Wine firm looks to hire a ‘burger sommelier’ to create patties to pair with new range
A WINE firm is hoping to recruit the nation’s first “burger sommelier” to create two patties to pair with a new wine range.
wants a candidate to invent one burger to twin with a red and another with a white.
Applicants will have “to describe their dream burger in the style of a sommelier” — and will be judged on choice of bun, patty, garnish and “imagination”.
Both burgers will be sold on Uber Eats alongside bottles of the £10 plonk.
The winner will also get a year’s supply of free burgers and wine.
Chef Nick Watkins, twice the Best British Burger champion, will help pick the winner.

He said: “I know what the nation is after when it comes to patties. I’d urge applicants to think about what makes their taste-buds tingle, whether flavour combos, sauces or garnishes.”
Lucy Bearman, of booze giant Pernod Ricard UK, said: “We’re returning to the heart of wine, which is pairing it with food, but doing so with a meal that resonates more with the next generation of wine drinkers — burgers.
“We can’t wait to taste the burger recipes that our new burger sommelier creates.”
