ENGLAND footie legend Kenny Sansom has said he is "ready to die" as he admits a heartbreaking defeat in his battle against booze.
The former left-back has said he is "in the worst place [he's] ever been" after being dumped by his fiancée and becoming estranged from his family.
In an emotional interview, the 58-year-old told the : "I want to kill myself. I don't feel like I've got anything left to live for.
"I want to forget my life. I can't handle life any more. If I could end it now, I would."
Kenny, who once earned £1,200 a week, admitted he has been borrowing money from pals and has just £50 to his name as his addiction continues to control his life.
He has a monthly income of £622, half of which goes to his ex-wife and the other half on booze and gambling.
Kenny says he now drinks four bottles of white wine a day, as it is stronger than his old vice Mateus Rose - which he feels no longer affects him.
The dad-of-three has been relying on a budget hotel's goodwill to give him a cheap room to stay in, or faces living on the streets.
Police and paramedics were called to the hotel last week amid fears he would commit suicide, the former Arsenal star has revealed.
He said despite spending three hours with him and wanting to take him to hospital, he refused as he "wanted to be on [his] own".
