CHILLING screams were heard as a mum was chased out of her home by a knifeman before being killed in front of her two kids in a "truly horrific" attack.
Neighbours claimed mum-of-two, Perseverance Ncube, raced into the street with her children in the early hours of Friday before collapsing on the street with stab wounds to the chest.
The 35-year old's son reportedly lay beside her body outside their home in Little Hulton, Worsley, before police were called.
Emergency services arrived at the scene on Dukesgate Grove shortly after 2.40am.

Perseverance, known to pals as 'Persy', was rushed to hospital where she tragically died of her injuries.

A 45-year-old man fled the scene but has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Neighbours claimed the victim ran out of her house with her children before being attacked in the road.
They also reported that a hammer may have been used.
Kealey, Pinkey, 52, said: “The woman came running out her house with a man chasing her.”

“Her two children were with her and witnessed what happened, which is awful.
“I know one of the woman’s neighbours and she went over to help the woman after she collapsed in the road.
“Apparently, the little boy was lying next to her on the floor.”
She added: “I got to know the woman because she used to sell Avon products, but I think she worked for the NHS."
Another neighbour Reianna Jackson, 35, said: “It’s terrible what’s happened.”
They said the mum-of-two was a keen church-goer and a doting mum.
“She was a devoted mum and did everything she could for her kids,” they said.
“She was so caring and hard-working.
“It’s awful she’s died.”
They added that a neighbour’s son had given Persy CPR as she lay with stab wounds and emergency services raced to the horrific scene.
Since her tragic death, emotional tributes have been paid by Persy's family.
They wrote: “It is with immense pain that we say goodbye to Perseverance Ncube, also known as Percy to her loved ones.
“She was a loving and devoted mother who lived for her children, family, and friends.
"Percy was an active member of her church and had created a beautiful community for herself and her children.
“Percy had just celebrated her 35th birthday in October, and her passing has left us with an immeasurable sense of loss.
"Our focus now is on supporting her children as they continue their journey without their mother.
“With love from Percy’s family.”
Residents on the street have also said the brutal killing has rocked the community as they paid tribute to an "amazing soul".
One told : "She was nice, she kept herself to herself. It's so sad, so terrible. The poor kids - Christmas and no mum."
Another posted on Facebook: "Rest in peace my beautiful friend.
"I know your kids will be well taken care of I’ve cried many tears for you today you was the life and soul of everything may god protect you up in heaven I’ll cherish all our memories."
Neighbours are launched a frantic attempt to save the mum's life as they performed CPR in the early hours.
One involved said: "There was four of us and a lad was giving her compressions on her chest."
Initial inquires suggest the victim was known to the suspect and police are treating the incident as a targeted attack.
Officers have sealed off the road as forensics teams probe the circumstances of Perseverance's death.
Images from the scene show two blue and white forensics tents with overall-clad crime scene investigators combing the site.
Forensics officers were later spotted carrying out bags of evidence as they continued to probe the tragic mum's death.
Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand of Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team said cops are still trying to piece together what happened.
She added: "This was a truly horrific attack on a mother, witnessed by her two young children and we really need the public to come forward and give information to us that may be able to assist our enquiries to find answers for them.
“A man, aged 45, fled the scene but has since been arrested by officers on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
"Our inquiries at present suggest that the victim was known to the suspect and we believe that it was targeted attack."
