Apple fans claim iPhone 7 Plus cameras have been broken by ‘black screen of death’
Smartphone owners say problems with their expensive gadget's camera has stopped them taking pictures
APPLE lovers are claiming that their iPhone cameras have broken and say they've been shown a "black screen of death" when they try to take a snap.
A Reddit thread posted on Tuesday reveals a number of people have been hit by problems while using the iPhone 7 Plus.
In some cases, the blue-tinged screen is accompanied by the words "Emergency. iPhone needs to cool down."
Panicked Redditor teriyawok yesterday wrote: "My new iPhone 7 Plus camera went AWOL today and a quick Twitter/Google search confirmed I'm not the only one.
"I opened up the camera app only to be met with a black image preview.
"Sometimes I can get an image however it's either tinted green or purple and was once accompanied by a screen stating 'Emergency iPhone needs to cool down' when the handset wasn’t even slightly warm."
On Apple's support forum, a number of people have also complained about problems with their cameras.
One man wrote: "I was travelling abroad and my iPhone 7 Plus camera just stopped working.
"I have tried soft reset, restarts, restoring and no luck. When I turn on camera,I get a dark screen."
In most cases, Apple appear to have exchanged or fixed the fault at the Genius bars without any questions.
But operational faults can be devastating for tech companies.
What to do if you see Apple's 'black screen of death'
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps
Apple advises: "Makes sure that's there's nothing blocking the camera lens. If you're using a case try removing it.
"Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again. "Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
"If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping the camera icon.
"If you see the closed lens of black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorised Service Provider for more help."
