Donald Trump says Muslim ban WILL go ahead because Berlin Christmas market massacre proves it will make America safer

The President-elect called the Monday's mass murder an 'attack on humanity'

DONALD Trump has declared he was “100% correct” over his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US – following the truck massacre in Berlin.

During his campaign, the President-elect sparked controversy by calling for a “complete shutdown” of Muslim immigration to America.

And following Monday’s terror attacks in Germany and Turkey, Trump was asked by reporters yesterday if he had changed his stance.

He said: "You know my plans. All along, I’ve been proven to be right. 100% correct. What’s happening is disgraceful.”

The billionaire property tycoon was also asked about his comments implying that the Berlin Christmas market massacre was an attack on Christians.

He said: “That’s what it is: an attack on humanity. And it’s got to be stopped.”

Trump confirmed that he had not spoken to President Obama since the attacks.

On Monday evening, a lorry was intentionally driven into a Christmas market in Berlin killing 12 people.

Hours later, an off-duty cop assassinated the Russian ambassador to Turkey at an art gallery in Ankara.

During his election campaign, Trump modified his Muslim ban proposal by saying he would halt immigration from countries with ties to terrorism.

After his comments yesterday, officials from Trump’s transition team declined to comment on whether the former Apprentice host would impose a ban on Muslim entering the US.

But they did say his policies "might upset those with their heads stuck in the politically correct sand".

A spokesman said: "President-elect Trump has been clear that we will suspend admission of those from countries with high terrorism rates and apply a strict vetting procedure for those seeking entry in order to protect American lives."
