Apprentice producer claims Donald Trump’s business empire was ‘crumbling’ when he joined show

Emmy winner Bill Pruitt said he never imagined Trump would become President

A PRODUCER who worked with Donald Trump on The Apprentice has claimed the President-elect's business empire was "crumbling" when he took the job.

Bill Pruitt, who worked on the first two series of The Apprentice, has also said he never imagined the "buffoon with the funny hair" would become a world leader.

The four-time Emmy winner told  that producers had been creating an image around Trump and expressed his shock at how completely it was bought by the public.

He said: "Some clever producers were putting forth a manufactured story about a billionaire whose empire was, in actuality, crumbling at the very same time he took the job, the salary, and ownership rights to do a reality show.

"The Apprentice was a scam put forth to the public in exchange for ratings. We were entertaining, and the story about Donald Trump and his stature fell into some bizarre public record as truth."

Pruitt expressed his shock that Trump won the election.

He added: "What’s shocking to me is how quickly and decisively the world bought it. Did we think this clown, this buffoon with the funny hair, would ever become a world leader? Not once. Ever.

"Would he and his bombastic nature dominate in prime-time TV? We hoped so."

Last month Trump pulled off an extraordinary election triumph, which will see him become the 45th US President in January.

Yesterday it was revealed an actor has claimed he has a copy of the “Apprentice tapes” which allegedly show the president-elect  using the “N-word”.

American comedian Tom Arnold, 57, says the outtakes reveal how Trump made the racist remark as well as repeatedly used the swear word “c***” and calling one of his sons a “r****d”.
