Bristol Airport accident: Horror A38 crash leaves one seriously injured and forces ALL flights to be delayed
A HORROR crash on the A38 has left one person seriously injured - and forced all flights to be delayed from Bristol Airport this morning.
Ambulances scrambled to the scene after the collision, with one person taken by helicopter to hospital.
The road was closed after the collision, leading to chaos on the roads and in the airport's departures lounge.
Traffic is now stacked up in the area, with police, ambulances and fire crews at the scene.
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: "We sent three double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, a doctor, and an air ambulance.
"We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital."

Bristol Airport said: "Flights will not take off from Bristol Airport this morning until 08:00.
"This is due to the A38 being closed following a road traffic collision.
"Passengers flying this morning are advised to leave extra time to travel to the Airport and check flight details with their airline."
One fuming motorist said: "This is a welcome update, given we’re stuck in gridlocked traffic on single car country roads 5 minutes from the airport."

Snaps showed the overcrowded departure lounge at the airport, with reporting that the hour between 6am and 7am is usually the busiest time at the airport.
A passenger said: "Stood in the departure lounge at Bristol airport - no announcements or information being provided to the thousands of people waiting here.
"Not everyone has access to X to see their flights are massively delayed."
Avon Fire and Rescue said it has made the scene safe by removing sharp objects and cleaning-up a fuel spillage.
The nearby A370 is also closed because of roadworks.
