But a judge let him off due to lack of evidence.

Sadler, who had no licence or insurance,  was following a Ford Focus which just missed the boy as he did a wheelie.

This  left Sadler just 0.89 of a second to respond before the fatal collision in West Bromwich,  a police report found.

There was no CCTV of the impact on the March evening in 2015, Wolverhampton crown court was told.  Judge Michael Challinor said: “In simple terms the police expert says this was not the fault of the defendant.

“The evidence is not sufficient for him to be convicted. For the case to go to trial there had to be evidence of an element of fault in the driving of the accused.”

Sadler, of  Smethwick, West Mids,  has not shown any remorse nor admitted he was driving the VW Bora — even though his defence did not argue otherwise. His DNA was also found in the car.

West Midlands Police said the case is being reviewed.
