Two men deny killing 20-year-old Pokemon Go fan Carl Gregory in Kent shopping centre car park attack

TWO men accused of killing a Pokemon Go fan at a shopping centre have today denied his murder.

Carl Gregory, who is said to have Asperger’s syndrome, was beaten to death in a car park in Broadstairs, Kent, on October 4.

John Dickson, 27, and Christopher Pollard, 20, pleaded not guilty at Maidstone Crown Court by video link from Elmley Prison, Sheppey.

A court heard earlier how 20-year-old Greg was choked and then kicked as he lay on the ground before falling into unconsciousness.
The horrific assault took place at The Link shopping centre near Westwood Cross just after 10pm.

Dickson, of Cliftonville, and Pollard, of Meopham, are due to stand trial on March 6 next year.

An alternative charge of manslaughter is to be added to the indictment, Judge Adele Williams said.

A pre-trial review will be held on February 3, which is expected to last two weeks.

Dickson and Polard will be remanded in custody until the result of the trial.

Mr Gregory’s family paid tribute to their son in a statement at the time of his death, reports the .

They said: “Carl was a loving son, brother and grandson who was a typical 20-year-old who enjoyed gaming, modern technology and Pokémon Go.

“We would like to reiterate that contrary to media reports, Pokémon Go cannot be attributed to his death.

“Carl will be greatly missed by family and friends and we are still in a position where we are trying to come to terms with his death, and as such we would request some privacy at this difficult time.”
