A SYRIAN refugee has claimed women are responsible for the horrific migrant sex attacks on New Year’s Eve in Germany last year.

Aras Bachot, who has lived in the country for five years, said women should stay inside at night.

The 18-year-old blogger, who says he “fights for equality”, has been slammed on Twitter after sharing a slew of questionable comments about the sex attacks.

Referring to the horrific night last year when more than 500 women reported being sexually assaulted, raped and robbed when over 1,000 migrants went on a rampage in Cologne, he tweeted: “Most of the time women are to blame.”


The teen, who blogs for Huffington Post in Germany, went on in the tweet: “To be alone at night. On the other hand, the refugees should behave.”

He hashtagged the tweet with the word “Silvester”, which means New Year’s in German.

His comments have been slammed on social media, with a number of users calling them “dangerous”.

One account called the blogger out: “In this country, women have the right to be alone at night! Migrants have a duty to behave!”

Writing on his news website, the 18-year-old says he “talks about truths”.

His About Me section reads: “My name is Aras Bacho. Am 18 years old and come from Syria.

“I've been living in Germany for 5 years and talk about truths. I fight for equality and am always seeking crucial answers which I blog on the Huff post.”

Speaking to , a spokesperson for Huffington Post said: “Yes we can confirm he has used our blogging platform previously.

“However, the tweet does not relate to any content he has posted on the HuffPost platform.”

Following the backlash, the teen deleted his tweet, writing another in its place: "I apologise for my tweet. I wanted to write something else.

"The victim is not to blame, but the attacker."
