Prison guards suspended over sick ‘grab a Muslim’ game where they ‘kept score’ on WhatsApp group

PRISON officers are alleged to have goaded Muslim inmates until they had to be restrained, then “kept score” in a WhatsApp group.
Eight guards are suspended, with one arrested, over the racist game.
The officers at Nottingham jail are said to have targeted mostly black and Asian lags, with Muslims allegedly worth the most points.
The only white prisoners picked on were converts to the religion or drug addicts, it is claimed. Betting is believed to have taken place based on points totals.
One source said: “The officers are said to have engineered a confrontation so they could have reason to restrain inmates. The language they are said to have used was vile.

The officers phones and computers are being scoured for the WhatsApp messages.
They are also facing claims they smuggled new psychoactive substance Spice, steroids and heroin substitute Subutex into the prison.
Staff are also being probed for allegedly taking bribes for “turning a blind eye’”to drug parcels thrown over the wall.
Cops confirmed a man of 28 had been bailed on suspicion of conspiracy to cause actual bodily harm.
The Prison Service said the police probe made it “inappropriate to comment”.
CRISIS FOR MONTHS
THE prisons crisis could last for months, Justice Secretary Liz Truss said.
She yesterday admitted to “long-standing issues” in jails including violence, drug use and drones smuggling contraband.
Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon said riots at Birmingham jail last week showed ministers had “lost control”.
Mrs Truss said the Government was taking “swift action to deal with drugs, drones and phones”.
