A PRISONER who sparked a manhunt after going on the run from HMP Pentonville has admitted breaking out of the prison.
James Anthony Whitlock pleaded guilty at Blackfriars Crown Court today to escaping from the prison in north London.
The 31-year-old managed to escape by removing the bars on his cell window, and was found to be missing from the prison shortly before midday on November 7.
He and another prisoner allegedly used diamond-tipped cutting equipment to break through cell bars before scaling a perimeter wall of the Victorian prison.
Whitlock's escape is said to have gone undetected for several hours, as he stuffed his bed with pillows to make it look like he was asleep.
