Who was Claire Paton?

The 38-year-old woman died in hospital after she was found at the home she is thought to have shared with her mum in Borrowash, Derbyshire.

After her death on December 16, her family described her as a "beautiful and vibrant mother, daughter and sister".

How did she die and why is her death linked to an M1 crash?

Police were called to her home at about 11am where it has been reported she was suffering from stab wounds, and she was taken to hospital.

She died later despite treatment.

Her son, Nathan, 22, was seen in the street outside her home "dripping with blood" as he tried to get help for his mother.

Thirty minutes later a 44-year-old man died after being hit by a lorry on the southbound M1 near Trowell Services, Notts., ten miles away.

It is believed Vincent Nagle, Claire's former partner, threw himself onto the carriageway from a motorway bridge after attacking her and her son.

Now, police have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Claire's death after launching a murder investigation.
