Nearly 5,000 people marched from Marble Arch and brought traffic and Christmas shoppers to a halt
THOUSANDS protesting against government inaction over Syria brought Oxford Street to a standstill in London yesterday.
It caused chaos on one of the year’s busiest shopping days.
Activists chanted “drop aid not bombs” and waved placards reading “save Aleppo” in response to the breakdown of the war-torn city’s evacuation.
Nearly 5,000 people marched from Marble Arch at 12.30pm and brought traffic and Christmas shoppers to a halt.
Protesters said they had “extreme rage” over the Government’s lack of action and one banner read: “Putin = Assad = Hitler”.
The group finished at 10 Downing Street, where doctors staged a “die-in” outside parliament to show solidarity with Syrian medics.
