POLICE have launched a murder probe after a woman was found dead at a property in north London.

A 47-year-old woman was found unresponsive at the address in Darthmouth Park Hill and pronounced dead shortly before 8pm.

Next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place.

A post-mortem was carried out on Friday, but failed to ascertain a cause of death.

Officers are awaiting the results of further tests.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "There has been no arrest, however a man who was taken to an east London hospital on Thursday, 15 December, is being treated as a suspect.

"The man - who is aged in his 60s and understood to be known to the deceased - remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. The cause of his injuries is not believed to be suspicious."
