This is how much it costs to replace just ONE of Apple’s new AirPod earphones

The wireless earphones, which cost a whopping £159 for a pair, can also be replaced independently of each other if you lose or break one - but they don't come cheap

Replacing a single AirPod will cost £65

APPLE have finally revealed how much it will cost to replace one of its new AirPods - and customers aren't impressed.

The wireless earphones are a must for the new iPhone 7 - and at £159 a pair they don't come cheap.

But it's now been revealed that if you lose just one of the tiny earphones you'll be forced to fork out £65 for a replacement.

The same goes for the charging case, at £65, and it costs £45 to service the battery in one AirPod or the charging case itself.

However each AirPod works independently, so if you lose one or break it the other will still work.

The AirPods were finally launched this in the UK week, with their arrival delayed several times since they were unveiled in September.

Apple say they "will forever change the way you use headphones" as they automatically connect to your device when switched on.

However, a single charge lasts only five hours - but the wireless charging case can hold multiple charges, taking around 15 mins for three hours of listening time.

Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple said: "Apple EarPods are the most popular headphones in the world. Now we're moving them to Lightning.

"Why? Because it provides digital audio, power, and many other advantages that are simply not possible over an analogue connection.

"The analogue headphone jack has been with us for a very long time. But the reason to move on is courage.

"The courage to move on and do something new that betters all of us."

Apple faced backlash when it decided to ditch the headphone jack from the iPhone earlier this year.

The iPhone 7 was unveiled in September, with the controversial decision slammed by fans whose current headphones and earphones will be redundant if they decide to upgrade to the latest model.

The primary reason for the removal of the headphone socket was space. By taking it away, the phone can be made thinner and packed full of more circuitry to make it perform better.

Connecting headphones through the Lightning connector also offers the option of better sound, because it means the hard work can be performed by the headphones, giving customers a bit more choice.
