She told : "We walked out of Primark and there was a woman with a really broad Hull accent screaming at her daughter who can only have been about eight or nine.

"She was saying 'I'm going to smack your a**e red raw when we get home, just you f*****g wait.'

"Her poor little girl was just looking at the floor, she was terrified.

"She saw me looking and shouted 'What the f**k are you looking at?' but I just carried on walking.

"I had my little girl with me and I didn't know what she would do."

She added: "It was so upsetting. I can't stop thinking about it.

"If that's how she is in public you wonder what she does when they're at home.

"We all lose our patience at times, we all want to tear our hair out, I'm not perfect parent, but this was horrifying."

The horrified shopper took to Facebook to share her experience by posting a message on the Hull Mummy Friends group.

It read: "To the woman who was screaming 'I'm going to smack your a**e red raw when we get home, just you f*****g wait" at her little girl whilst your toddler looked on outside Primark.

"I hope one day someone you trust makes you afraid, I hope your little girl tells someone how scared her mummy makes her, I hope you got home and didn't fulfil your promises.

"I hope you stopped and saw the fear in your own child's face and the utter horror in my own.

"I hope you realise how precious that little girl is before she believes that its how you should be treated by someone you love.

"I hope you realise how lucky you are to have a child when so many can't and have lost theirs.

"I hope you know how your behaviour terrified your and my little girl."

The witness, who does not want to be named, reported the incident to Humberside Police who said they are investigating it after a second concerned shopper called them after seeing the woman in question.

She is described as being under the age of 30, and having bleached blonde hair and black eyebrows and of a skinny build.
