My son, 14, was left starved and humiliated when school staff refused to serve him when he had no money
A MUM has claimed her son was left "humiliated" and "starved"; after staff refused to serve him when he had no money on his account.
The 14-year-old student at Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy in Stoke-on-Trent had run out of credit on his dinner money account.
He was told by a lunchtime supervisor to "put his meal back", according to his mum Kelly Bowman, 41.
She has now hit out at the Blurton school after she says no attempt was made to contact her.
The senior dementia carer claimed her son was left "feeling stupid" after he was allegedly asked to return his meal in front of his peers.
She added: “I had given him a £10 top-up a few days earlier but he must have used more than he thought. He didn’t have enough on his account.

“He said that the person that was dealing with the lunches said he hadn’t got enough money and made him put the meal back. The dinner hall was full of people, he felt stupid."
She claimed the school should have given her son his meal and then taken the credit from the next top-up.
She said: “If they had contacted us to say he hadn’t got enough money, we would have credited it straight away, but we were unaware. How many children are not having a meal if this happens? I think it’s disgusting.
“Children don’t think about whether they have got enough money. He was starving when he got home."

A spokesman for the Ormiston Academies Trust, which runs the school, said: "We are in ongoing liaison with a student and his family following this matter. We have since apologised to the student and are providing continued support.”
It comes after a dad was left appalled by the inappropriate present his daughter brought home from school.
And a teacher has been trolled for "unprofessional" visible tattoos and piercings.
