Staggering 1,600 Met Police officers & staff subject to complaints over violence or discrimination against women

A TOTAL of 1,600 Met Police officers and staff have been subject to complaints of violence against women and girls, or discrimination.

They were flagged up on disciplinary systems, but never charged.

More than a quarter are being investigated and face being axed.

The figure emerged from Operation Onyx, set up after a series of scandals in the force.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said: “We are turning over the stone to uncover everything that is going on in our organisation.”

The investigation also found that 201 officers and staff are currently suspended.

But clearing the backlog of court cases involving cops will take until 2025.
