K-9 UNLEASHED

Horrific moment cops ‘allow’ police dog to maul naked, unarmed man for a MINUTE after pinning him to the ground

Victim's right leg was left 'partially and permanently disabled' after the brutal dog attack

SHOCKING footage shows a police dog ripping apart the leg of an unarmed naked man.

The disturbing video, filmed on a police bodycam, shows officers asking the man to turn around after he was found intoxicated in a canyon in San Diego in August 2015.

But, when the unnamed 25-year-old man refuses, repeatedly shouting “no”, cops unleash a vicious K-9 attack hound which tackles him to the ground.

The graphic footage, obtained by , shows the animal savaging the unarmed man’s leg for around a minute – even after officers had pinned him to the ground.

The victim’s right leg is now “partially and permanently disabled”, reports NBC.

His lawyers say the officers used excessive force and successfully sued the police department with the man receiving a £300,000 settlement from San Diego City Council.

Attorney Donald W. Cook, who does represent the man in the video, spoke to NBC about the case.

He said: “It wasn't necessary to use the dog to begin with and it sure as hell wasn't necessary or needed or appropriate to let the dog continue to bite.”

The victim, who is a businessman from San Diego, spoke to the news channel about the terrifying attack.

He said: “I take some responsibility because I was under the influence.

“But nothing justifies the cops use of such force.”

The official policy of the San Diego Police Department states that officers should give two clear warnings before using a K-9 to subdue a suspect.

According to the police report, the officer involved said he did not have time to issue a warning.

The cop claims he released the dog because he thought the man “posed an immediate threat to officers due to the fact he was clinching his fists and walking towards them”.
