Paedophile scout leader jailed for 13 years – three decades after molesting underage boys after they joined his group
Terry Figg was sentenced to a 13 year jail term after being convicted of sexually abusing four boys under the age of 14 in the 1970's and 1980's
A PAEDOPHILE scout leader has been jailed for 13 years, 30 years after sexually abusing innocent young lads after they joined his group.
Terry Figg, 68, molested four lads under the age of 14 while running a troop in the 1970s and 1980s. He was arrested last year after victims came forward in Orpington, South East London.
Until then, he had been known locally as a passionate 'Save our Buses' campaigner. He gathered thousands of signatures in protest of cuts to public transport after the accusations had been levelled at him.
He continued to join protests and was pictured in local newspapers as a prominent local campaigner for another year after his arrest, while he was on bail.
In May 2014, he was pictured brandishing a placard proclaiming: "The people have spoken, 4,546 signatures against the cuts."
In May 2015, two months after his initial arrest, he said: "It is pure fantasy for the council to think these cuts to local bus services are needed and they will be going against the wishes of thousands of people who have signed our petition.
"If Cinderella relied on Hertfordshire's buses to get home from the ball she would have to leave before 7:30pm, not midnight."
