Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour DEFENDS striking rail unions causing misery for 300,000 commuters

JEREMY Corbyn’s Labour DEFENDED striking unions causing misery for 300,000 commuters yesterday – blaming Government “incompetence” for the strikes.
Labour’s Transport team championed the industrial action by drivers union Aslef – which donated £20,000 to Mr Corbyn’s leadership bid.
The daft comments came as Jeremy Corbyn was under intense pressure to distance himself from militant unions hell bent on ruining Christmas travel for thousands of Brits.
The hapless Labour leader also infuriated MPs by sending Christmas wishes to posties hell bent on grinding festive mail services to a halt.
Last night Tory MP Henry Smith hit out: “It is deeply disappointing that Labour has failed to condemn these strikes and overlooks the impact they will have on the travelling public.”
“Once again, Labour’s union paymasters are causing chaos and misery for passengers with this vindictive and unnecessary strike action.
Since Mr Corbyn was elected leader, the Labour Party has received £11,177,227.58 from trade unions donations, including more than £60,000 from Aslef.
The union also funded Mr Corbyn’s leadership campaigns to the tune of £20,000.
It came as the ‘Jeremy Corbyn 4 Leader’ Twitter page announced “solidarity” with the drivers union bringing chaos to the Southern network.
And Andy McDonald MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, defended the striking train drivers, saying: “To attempt to pin the blame for Southern’s miserable service on trade unions rather than the incompetence of management and government ministers is an insult to long suffering passengers.”
He went on: “As commuters are well aware, Southern’s sub-standard service predates any industrial action and trains are cancelled, late and dangerously overcrowded every day regardless of strike action.
“Rather than playing the blame game, the Government should accept responsibility.”
Do we need anti-strike laws?
