THE magic effect of Harry Potter saw a house in the same street as his home in 'Privet Drive' sell for nearly £200,000 over the asking price.

Harry's iconic home – which went on the market for £475,000 – was chosen in 2001 to be where Harry first lived in the cupboard under the stairs.
It did go on the market in the summer but was removed by the owner in November.
The neighbouring house in Picket Post Close, Martins Heron, was bought on Friday, October 14, for £650,000 - nearly £200,000 over the asking price.
The buyer has got four bedrooms, plenty of living space and a sizable garden.

It was last sold for £290,000 in May 2010.
A spokesman from Chancellors, who sold the property, said: "This is the highest value property sale for this street on record, according to Zoopla’s stats and as it is just a few doors down from the Harry Potter home, it could be said it’s had an effect on the value of neighbouring properties"
The home of Harry’s Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley Dursley in the famous films is ideal for commuters as its just 0.2 miles from Martins Heron railway station.
The home boasts a spacious garden with a large patio and grass area.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms, including a master with an en-suite and a family bathroom.
Harry was forced to live in the pokey space in the house just down the road from this property by his cruel aunt and uncle before heading to Hogwarts.
Logistical problems meant the actual house only ever featured in one of the films – but the whole street was recreated in a studio for the later films.
Harry Potter fans can now visit the set on the Warner Bros studio tour in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.
