THE SUN SAYS

With attitudes around drink driving finally changed why do people still think it is OK to use mobile phones while at the wheel?

Changing the law needs to be used to change attitudes

Think driving

A GENERATION ago, some people still thought there was nothing really wrong with drinking and driving.
Attitudes have completely changed.

People still think it’s OK to use a mobile phone while driving despite the risks

Everyone now knows that if you drink and drive you turn your car into a deadly weapon.

Only idiots still do it.

But although the message has sunk in that alcohol and driving don’t mix, too many people still think it’s OK to talk on a mobile and drive.

Too many people like the policewoman caught by a passerby in North London driving and speaking on her phone.

In October, Polish lorry driver Tomasz Kroker was sent down for ten years for killing Tracy Houghton, her two sons and her stepdaughter.

He’d been on his phone when he smashed into her car at 50mph.

Anyone who drives while they’re on their mobile could be the next Kroker.

Using the law changed attitudes to drink driving. Now it needs to be used against idiots like PC iPlod.

’Tis the Susan

IF you’re ever invited to a party by Susan James, Anti Social Behaviour Officer of Stonewater social housing association, say you’re busy washing your hair.

Susan James believes Christmas celebrations should be stamped out

Because Ms James clearly thinks merriment and happiness are something to be stamped out.

She’s written to residents attacking “toxic” Christmas decorations and demanding they observe a “clear corridor policy”. That means banning tinsel, holly and even Santa’s elves.

Jobsworths like Susan James love Christmas. It gives them the chance to throw their weight around.

The rest of us just groan and think: “What a load of baubles.”

Premier greed

WE don’t object to supremely talented Premier League footballers being well paid.

It’s right that they are well rewarded for entertaining us in the most exciting league in the world.

Footballers need to draw a line at being greedy when it comes to money

But there’s a difference between being paid well and being greedy.

And the recent exposes of their creative tax arrangements shows that too many of them are just that. Greedy.

They should pay tax like the rest of us.

Bo-Jo has turned down Blair’s latest bid for more taxpayer’s money

BORIS Johnson is under the cosh at the moment.

But he’s certainly done one thing right in turning down Tony Blair’s latest bid for more taxpayer’s money.

The former PM already gets nearly £3million a year from the public purse.

Boris is bang on the money saying “No” to any more.
