The Beatles’ John Lennon warned he’d be ‘shot on an island’ over a decade before his Manhattan murder

Sixties star, who was fatally gunned down by Mark Chapman, received chilling death prophecy from Greek astrologer in 1969

JOHN LENNON was told he’d be “shot on an island” over a decade before he was gunned down outside his apartment building on New York's Manhattan Island.

The Beatles legend was given the warning by a local astrologer while holidaying in Greece with Yoko Ono in 1969, 11 years before he was murdered by Mark Chapman in December 1980.

reports that the terrified couple immediately cancelled a planned yachting trip around the Greek Islands with the singer Donovan.

The story came to light after a three-minute silent film of the couple wandering the streets of Athens was put up for sale.

John and Yoko assumed the shooting would be on a Greek Island,” said filmmaker Nico Mastorakis, who will sell the previously unseen footage this week after finding it during a clear-out of his house.

“I totally believe that some people are psychic and the message comes through some people,” Ono told Mastorakis in a 2000 interview.

“In our case, she told us that, but we were not careful in the way we should have been.

‘’We were careful, but in the wrong way as we did not go to the Greek Islands.”

The footage will be sold at Bonhams’ Auction House on Thursday, and is expected to fetch up to £15,000.

It will come with a signed statement about the shooting prediction and photos of Lennon holding a video camera.
