Scale of payments to survivors ‘prove punishment don’t fit the crimes for sex beasts’
Keeping sex offenders behind bars for longer is the best way to reduce offending rates and cut huge compensation amount
SEX attackers’ victims are falling pregnant at the rate of one a week, shock figures show.
A total of 308 have conceived from an assault in the last six years, receiving £1.78million compensation.
Each was paid on average £5,500 for the pregnancy, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority revealed after a Freedom of Information request.

Their total compensation was £8.5million when all factors were considered.
In addition, £2.8million was paid to 111 victims who contracted a sex infection from an attack.
David Spencer, Research Director at the Centre for Crime Prevention, said: “”It is of course right that victims of sex offenders are compensated, although of course no amount of money will change the horrific offences they have fallen victim to, which will affect them for the rest of their lives.
“Of course, the taxpayer wouldn’t have to paying such compensation if the punishments for sex offenders fitted the crimes they commit.
“Keeping sex offenders behind bars for longer is best way to reduce offending rates, keep the public safe, and also cut the shocking amount being paid out each year in compensation to victims.”
