Sonkin made headlines in August 2023 when the BBC published , with findings suggesting that dozens of women were "groomed into online sex work" via Tate's War Room.

The investigation found that Sonkin described himself as a "wizard" and was seen as being in charge of the group by the whistleblower involved in the inquiry.

Leaked chats showed that violence against women "was taught and encouraged" by the War Room.

Tate responded to the BBC's findings via a spokeswoman, saying that the claims "not only present false accusations, but insult the massive community that considers Andrew Tate a life changing positive force".

The statement added that Tate "is prepared to take all necessary legal actions to defend his innocence and hold accountable those responsible for defamatory claims".

Sonkin, meanwhile, did not comment when confronted by the BBC outside his home in Los Angeles, California.

What is Andrew Tate's 'War Room'?

Leaked War Room chats, obtained by the BBC, appear to show that the site teaches its members how to groom women into sex work.

Members are reportedly instructed to become romantically involved with women before emotionally manipulating and socially isolating them.

The women are then talked into performing on webcams, with the men pocketing a large percentage of the money they make.

The BBC adds that the leaked messages they obtained suggest violence against women was taught and encouraged in the War Room.

It costs £6,300 a year to join.

According to Tate, the War Room purports to be a space to discuss business and "taking ownership of your choices and actions," according to Tate.
