The public murder of Yevgeny Prigozhin proves Putin is a brutal, vengeful gangster who happens to occupy the Kremlin

Mobster rule

LET us hear no more guff about surrendering Ukrainian territory to appease Putin and buy “peace”.

He is not a statesman to be negotiated with.

He is a monstrous warmonger and — as the public murder of paramilitary Yevgeny Prigozhin proves — a brutal, vengeful gangster who happens to occupy the Kremlin.

No one of course should shed a tear for the neo-Nazi Prigozhin.

But his mid-air assassination proves what saner voices have said about Putin since the murder of Alexander Litvinenko in London, the invasion of Crimea, the Skripal poisonings, the shooting-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 and the genocidal invasion of Ukraine.

Russia is a broken nation which must remain a global pariah until this creature and his goons are toppled.

Some major countries and prominent commentators still side with this malevolent, racist mobster.

Shame on them.

Their hatred of the West has driven them to madness.

Lunatic asylum

WE wonder how Labour can brand the Tories’ record on asylum a disaster and keep a straight face.

Because the woke civil servants responsible are working precisely to the Left’s agenda and busting a gut to ensure Keir Starmer wins power.

A majority of voters consider most asylum claims false and want the small boats scandal stopped.

Obstructive Home Office penpushers couldn’t care less.

They are too busy putting up “refugees welcome” posters, opposing the Rwanda deterrent, working to in-house rules all but guaranteed to approve most migrants’ claims no matter how bogus.

Why wouldn’t tens of thousands more chance their arm every year, knowing Whitehall will grant them a new life even in defiance of the Home Secretary?

Why wouldn’t tens of thousands more chance their arm every year, knowing Whitehall will grant them a new life even in defiance of the Home Secretary?

The Tories cop the blame for the backlog.

Fine.

But these are effectively Labour open-borders policies in action.

A Starmer Government would clear it not by deporting those with no valid claim . . . but by giving them ALL the nod.

Spin shame

LUCY Letby’s hospital unit seemed to value its image above anything else.

A staggering bill for £325,000 proves it.

This vast sum in public money was paid to a PR outfit over four years after the murders of babies became public.

How that payout chimes with evidence that managers dismissed warnings over Letby for fear of inviting in scandal.

The PR firm insists it worked to “clean up the tragic mess” Letby left.

How can any NHS unit ever justify handing over £325,000 to massage its image?

Given the shame the harrowing trial has now brought on it, it’s hard to argue it was well spent.
