Nigel Farage brands £2.4million payout for de-banking scandal boss Alison Rose a ‘sick joke’

NIGEL Farage has branded a £2.4million payout for de-banking scandal boss Alison Rose a “sick joke”.

He lashed out at the NatWest chief executive, who quit after telling a BBC reporter that Mr Farage’s account with posh subsidiary Coutts was closed because he was not wealthy enough.

It was later confirmed the move was due to the ex-Brexit Party leader’s views.

Now, it has emerged Dame Alison, serving a year’s notice, is not only in line for her £1.2million salary but also £1.2million in shares over a five-year period.

She will get a hefty pension, too.

In a video message, Mr Farage said: “I thought perhaps it was a sick joke.”

Referring to the Financial Conduct Authority, he added: “Surely you can’t break client confidentiality, surely you can’t breach virtually every important rule in the FCA codebook, and you can’t then lie about it after you’ve briefed the BBC and still receive a £2.43million payout?

“And yet that’s exactly what’s happened to Alison Rose.”

Ex-Cabinet Minister Jake Berry said it was a “disgraceful reward for failure in this largely taxpayer-owned bank”.

NatWest said it would continue to review her pay and bonus during its investigation and could still claw back payments.
