The U-turn over unisex loos marks beginning of end for gender wars – no thanks to Keir Starmer

IT is now obvious that the Government and other institutions are backing down in the war over transgender ideology.

Ministers have announced a pledge to reverse the rise of gender-neutral toilets.

Heavily influenced by the likes of LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall and the mantra “trans women are women”, the Government has previously refused to listen to feminists when we have provided compelling evidence that gender-neutral toilets are unpopular and potentially dangerous.

Following consultation with over 17,000 people, changes to regulations will now mean that all new public and private buildings will have to provide a separate single space toilet for women and girls.

Women have long complained that a lack of separate facilities flies in the face of dignity and privacy, and also allows male sex predators to more easily access potential victims.

This is just an example of how, in the UK, the gender war is all but won.

Stonewall’s reign is over, and so is the era of “no debate” on the issue.

But this victory is no thanks to Keir Starmer, the Labour Party leader who dug in his heels until he was forced to do an about-turn recently.

Women on the left have long been warning the Labour Party that extreme transgender policies not only betray women and girls, but will cost them votes.

Many of us have either left the party or been expelled for refusing to toe the line.

Now we’ve been proved right. British people do not buy into the nonsense that trans women are actual females.

In late July came an opinion piece in the Guardian by Shadow Women and Equalities Secretary and party chair Anneliese Dodds.

It sounded the death knell for the “self-ID” law first proposed by Conservative Minister Maria Miller back in 2015, and ended: “Labour’s commitment to trans people and women is not up for debate”.

Days later, Wes Streeting, Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, announced that “Labour will protect women-only spaces” if it wins the next election in a deft execution of a U-turn on behalf of the entire Labour Party.

The Tories, faced with a huge backlash, had already dropped support for self-ID three years ago.

This is significant because it was arguably Maria Miller’s self-ID law suggestion that started the gender war.

Groups such as WPUK, Fair Play for Women and Keep Prisons Single Sex were founded to campaign against this threat.

And now here’s the Labour Party, quietly changing its position without so much as a televised interview or statement.

A couple of days after the Dodds article was published, when Starmer was asked, again, to define a woman, he responded, “An adult female.”

Given that he has repeatedly struggled to define a woman, declaring as recently as this April that some women have a penis, this is a big shift for the Labour leader.

Have he and all those silent Labour Party members suddenly seen the light?

Or have they simply been told there’s a new policy more in line with polling outcomes?

I know what I think: it is impossible to both support women’s rights AND sit tight on the trans-extremist train Labour has been riding.

Since I was first targeted by trans activists 20 years ago, I have watched the emergence of a growing movement of narcissistic bullies who demand total capitulation to trans ideology, which insists that trans women are actual women.

Until groups such as Woman’s Place UK were founded, I was one of only a handful of people speaking out against gender woowoo.

Trans activists had gained the upper hand in every single institution.

These extremists have come for me over and over again, aided and abetted by so-called liberals, following the crowd.

Mary Beard, Peter Tatchell and Caroline Lucas have all, without reading a word I’ve written, publicly denounced my transphobia.

And then there is the issue of sport. Increasing numbers of UK sporting bodies - including those governing triathlon, athletics, rowing, rugby, and swimming — are ruling that the women’s category should be preserved for females.

A decisive moment came in September 2021, when five separate sports councils ruled that there was no magic bullet capable of preserving fairness and safety while allowing males into the female category.

No hiding place

While British Rowing recently confirmed that male transgender athletes will not be allowed to compete against females, British Cycling ruled in May that trans women would not be allowed to compete in elite female events.

In response, Emily Bridges, a transwoman wanting to compete “as a woman”, called the policy a “violent act”, accusing British Cycling of “furthering a genocide against us”.

It makes sense that sporting bodies are currently leading the way out of the gender war, because there is no hiding place for biology and truth in this area.

And the Labour Party is well aware that in order to get elected, they need to stop saying that some women have penises and some men are in possession of a cervix.

There is still a long way to go, but those that are in the trenches are clearly going to emerge victorious.

We keep winning court cases against those that push us out of our jobs and college courses for daring to critique extreme transgender ideology.

And what’s more, the vast majority of British citizens are beginning to take their heads out of the sand and recognise that we are right.
