Cops hunting for Celtic fan missing in Lanzarote for FIVE months want to identify mystery man spotted with him
POLICE are looking to track down a mystery man sighted with a missing Celtic fan who vanished in Lanzarote five months ago.
Gary Watson Shearer, 53, from Renfrew near Glasgow, disappeared hours after travelling to the holiday island alone to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
He was last seen outside Bar 67 in the resort of Puerto del Carmen and CCTV later picked him up unconscious in a doorway around 1.30am on March 17.
Today, in a new appeal for the public’s help, detectives published footage of Gary walking along the street with a “well-built” man they described as a “possible witness.”
The CCTV footage was taken on the same day the Scot went missing, but it was not immediately clear what time it was recorded.
The Civil Guard said in a statement: “We are interested in finding the person in the images as he had contact with Gary.

“They were filmed walking together on March 17 in the streets Avenida Las Playas and Avenida Italia in Puerto del Carmen.
“Any information we receive could be of interest.
“The man in question is aged between 60 to 70 and is well-built with greying hair, a light-brown sports jacket, white shirt and long dark trousers.
“Anyone who can provide any information or clue about the identity of this person can contact the Civil Guard’s People and Homicide Team in Las Palmas.”
Gary, who has epilepsy and type 2 diabetes, was last seen wearing a Celtic football shirt, white shorts and white trainers. He is 5ft 2 with grey/black hair and a distinctive limp.
He was at Celtic pub Bar 67 in the resort town of Puerto del Carmen.
We told how CCTV footage seen by his family shows him lying "unconscious" in a doorway outside the Hoops supporters' bar.
His niece Darcie Shearer revealed last week authorities had found new CCTV of him with another man.
She said at the time before the release of the images today: “It could be a breakthrough but we are still no further ahead since my uncle Gary first went missing,
"We hope it will lead to answers for us because we have been told so many times that there is no footage.”
Gary’s family has been critical of the lack of information they have received from the Spanish police.
His parents Ann, 71, and Danny, 69, along with his sister Michelle, flew out to Lanzarote in March to help with the search for him.
