Web giant Amazon donates 50 Kindle tablet computers and pledges cash boost to our Smiles at Christmas campaign
Amazon is the latest big company to join our appeal to help disadvantaged kids this Christmas
WEB giant Amazon last night gave a serious boost to The Sun’s Smiles at Christmas campaign.
The firm pledged a cash donation plus 50 Kindle tablet computers, each worth £50.
Last night Doug Gurr, Amazon’s UK boss, said: “The Sun’s Smiles at Christmas campaign does great work helping those most in need.
“We are delighted to support it and hope our donation helps make deserving children happy.”
Amazon is the latest big company to join our appeal to try to put a smile on the face of disadvantaged kids at home and abroad.
Earlier this week we announced a gift of £25,000 from the Morrisons Foundation, the charity arm of the supermarket.
That followed a five-figure donation from British Gas owners Centrica, while N Power have been encouraging staff to donate money and toys with workplace appeals.
Toys R Us were among the first to join our appeal, with a Sun-branded collection trolley in every branch for readers to donate toys.
Convenience store chain McColl’s is also collecting toys from readers.
Our four good causes were chosen to aid those who deserve most help. They are Scotty’s Little Soldiers, Children With Cancer, the AMAR Foundation and Women’s Aid.
Scotty’s Little Soldiers supports the children who have lost a parent serving in the armed forces.
Children With Cancer give millions every year to research and are battling to get “personalised” treatment for every kid by 2020.
The AMAR Foundation has provided medical aid and education in the Middle East for 24 years and helps terrified children fleeing ISIS.
And Women’s Aid has over 220 services which help domestic violence victims in refuges across Britain.
