The 24-year-old, from Dunfermline, was crowned Miss Scotland in July last year.

It's alleged she was drunkenly dragged out of the event by security.

It's claimed that a member of security was racially abused during the alleged incident.

Police Scotland confirmed they have charged a 24-year-old woman in connection with the alleged disturbance and an alleged "hate crime" at Peffermill Road on Saturday June 17.

Officers said a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Miss Scotland organisers previously said they were investigating the allegations.

The licence holders for the beauty event have yet to issue a public statement but released a post encouraging entrants to apply for the 2023 title the day after the alleged incident.

Angry pageant supporters demanded they address the claims.

One said: "You simply MUST release a statement. If there is any grain of truth whatsoever to these allegations you cannot be seen to have supported such behaviour."

The Fife beauty has since locked down all her public social media accounts.

Scottish Fashion Association, which the pageant queen founded last year, released a statement saying they are taking it "exceptionally seriously".

They said: "SFA are aware of an alleged incident on June 17 2023. We are treating this matter exceptionally seriously and will provide an update in due course.

"We are currently responding to each and every message."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 24-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a disturbance and a hate crime at Peffermill Road in Edinburgh on Saturday, 17 June, 2023.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
