Law breaking van and lorry drivers caught using mobile phones along busy stretch of M20
Motorists were snapped using devices behind the wheel near Ashford, Kent
THESE law breaking drivers must wheelie need to make a call - after being caught playing with their phones on a busy motorway.
The careless motorists were snapped mobile in hand on the M20 near Ashford, Kent, yesterday.
Our eagle eyed photographer caught over 20 illegal diallers in just three hours.
One white van man appeared to be deep in conversation while motoring along, another sporting an Hungarian flag in the cab of his left-hand drive truck was engrossed in his handset and a worker in orange high viz was caught having a chin wag on the three carriageway road.
The shocking photos were taken on the same day former Lord Chief Justice for England and Wales Lord Woolf, cautioned the Government for unveiling plans to crack down on dangerous drivers who kill.
Proposals laid out by Westminster hope to introduce tough new punishments to offenders, meaning anyone who is convicted of causing death by careless driving while using a mobile, under the influence of booze or drugs or speeding will face a maximum life sentence.
Under the current regime, offenders can only receive a sentence of up to 14 years.
Speaking in Parliament, Lord Woolf said: “To increase sentences, even though they are discretionary, excessively leads to sentencing inflation.
“Secondly, juries will not convict if they think that the sentences are inappropriate.”
