Lenient judge hands LOWEST sentence possible to jealous boyfriend after he stabbed love rival – and blames missus
Judge Alan Conrad told Sarah Partridge she was 'very lucky she isn't before the court'
A LOVER who stabbed a man he found in bed with his partner was shown leniency — as the judge heaped blame on his missus.
Jamie Carlton, 29, admitted wounding John Scott. Sarah Partridge sent provocative messages until he "lost self-control", Liverpool crown court heard.
Judge Alan Conrad said Partridge was "very lucky she isn't before the court." He gave Carlton eight months, the lowest possible sentence.
Louise Santamera, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that the terrified victim John, who had met Sarah for the first time that evening in a bar, fled into the garden after being stabbed.
She added: “He heard the couple screaming at each other and only then noticed blood pouring down his body but he did not know what had happened.
“He was very distressed and confused.
“Carlton came out and said, ‘I’ve stabbed you, you need to get sorted out’.
“He was holding a knife and asked, ‘Have you sh***** my bird? Why are you in my bed bollocks?”
Carlton phoned an ambulance and John went back to the bedroom, where Sarah was still lying in bed.
He grabbed his clothes and after dressing drove himself to Aintree Hospital, Liverpool, Merseyside.
Doctors found he had a three centimetre stab wound in his loin which had just missed his kidney.
He needed stitches but not surgery and was discharged the next day.
Meanwhile the police arrived at the property in Waterloo, Merseyside, and spoke to Sarah, who lived there with Carlton.
Miss Santamera added: “She gave misleading information, telling an officer she did not know who the attacker was.
“She provided a further statement admitting telling lies as she was absolutely terrified and traumatised.
“She was taken to Crosby police station and enroute sent a text to the defendant ‘you need to hide. I’ve not told them it was you.’”
Miss Santamera said that when her phone was analysed numerous messages were found which she had sent to him that previous evening and in the early hours showing her winding him up.
The lawyer added: “She sent a message to a friend including a video clip of the complainant naked in her bed.”
Miss Santamera said it was believed she had sent the same messages to Carlton.

Frank Dillon, defending, said that Carlton, who has previous convictions for damage and assault police, had been wound up mercilessly that evening by her about the state of their relationship.
He added: “He was taken over by the green-eyed monster and then the red mist descended.
“He lost his self-control in the face of severe provocation.”
Sentencing him Judge Alan Conrad, QC, said: “The one person who is totally blameless is Mr Scott but I accept on that night you encountered considerable provocation.
“You never sought to blame the victim and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.”
