Serving Met Police officer, 30, charged with attempted rape while off duty
The offence is alleged to have occurred between January and December 2012 in South Croydon
A SERVING London police officer has been charged with attempted rape.
James McKibbin, 30, a Met Police officer in the Richmond Borough, was charged on Monday 7 November.
The alleged offence did not take place while the officer was on duty and is alleged to have occurred between January and December 2012 in South Croydon.
He has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday.
The officer was arrested in April 2016, following an investigation by detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command.
The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
The officer is currently on restricted duties.
