Naked photos leaked online after hundreds of Chinese women are forced to send nude selfies to loan sharks as a ‘guarantee’ they’ll pay back the cash

NUDE photos of hundreds of young Chinese women who were forced to hand over naked selfies for cash loans have been leaked online.
Loan sharks told the victims, many of them university students, to send over nude selfies of them holding their ID cards as a sick 'guarantee'.

The horrific practice is being done through Jiedaibao, a peer-to-peer lending platform where people can broker their own deals - but it is not known who leaked the pictures.
In June it emerged that the young girls are asked to send a naked selfie with their ID card in order to borrow thousands of yuan with high interest rates.
The dodgy loan sharks then threaten to contact their parents and post the picture online, to make sure that the money will be repaid.
The pictures are transferred through two popular messaging apps, QQ and Wechat.
Li Li told Southern Metropolis Daily that she owes the loan sharks 55,000 yuan.
She had originally taken out a loan of just 500 yuan, the equivalent of just over £50.
Her loan shark’s interest rates were set at 30%.
According to the newspaper Legal Daily, some lenders sell the nude pictures for 30 yuan at a time, even after they receive all their money.
A female student told Beijing Youth Daily that she sent nude pictures to numerous lenders to raise 120,000 yuan to start a business.
But, between February and June, her debt doubled and she was forced to ask her parents for help to pay back the loan.
A screenshot of a message between a female student and a loan shark reveals that the girl had borrowed 10,000 yuan to pay for an abortion.
In the message, the loan shark was threatening to send the picture to the girl’s parents if she didn’t pay the money back.
Many Chinese students find it difficult to get loans as the government is only able to provide limited support.
Yesterday, the website Jiedaibao confirmed that nude loans do take place on their website, though they are not regulated or approved of.
In a statement to the Guardian, a spokesman for Jiedaibao said: “This kind of naked loan is actually taking advantage of the online platform to operate an illegal usurious offline business.”
The sick business has split opinion on social media sites.
One commenter said: “These kind of loans are like opium. Why does the regulatory authority neglect it?”
Another said: “Are they deserving of sympathy? No, they aren’t. You should spend the money you are able to make. Why are you spending money that you have no ability to earn?”
A Weibo user said: “It’s stupid to send nude photos. The girl is so naive and stupid. I wonder how she was able to enter the university.”
Another said: “This is notorious now, but it is still operating. Doesn’t it break the law?”
