NINTENDO fans rejoice - the video game legends are coming to life.
Entire realms filled with Mario and power-ups are set to be created within three Universal Studio theme parks for gamers eager to step out from behind the console.
But what do we know so far?
Where will the Nintendo theme parks be?
They will be at Universal Studios in Japan, the Universal Orlanda Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.
While not separate worlds themselves, they will instead be "realms" within the three studios.
Creators have also promised that "there will be something for everyone".
The same locations already have Harry Potter-themed areas with it hoped the scale of the wizarding world will be mimicked for Nintendo fans.
When will they be open?
The launch has only just been announced, with creators saying it was hoped the areas would open by 2020.
In a , organisers said: "Planning and creative work on these areas is well underway; they will open separately over the next several years."
It has been promised that details of the areas will be released soon.
What will they include?
The future worlds have been described as "expansive, immersive and interactive".
They will include highly-themed and authentic environments that will be filled with attractions, shops and restaurants.
Nintendo said: "The creative visionaries behind Nintendo’s legendary worlds and characters are working together with the creative teams behind Universal’s blockbuster theme park attractions.
"Their goal: to bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within Universal theme parks.
"And to do so in new and innovative ways that capture what makes them so special.
"All of the adventure, fun and whimsy you experience through a screen will now be all around you – in breathtakingly authentic ways."
It is not clear who will be featured in the themed areas - Luigi? Zelda?
What has the creator said?
Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has said he wanted to "bring the essence of the games to the real world".
He added: "We are constantly amazed how the park developers are bringing the essence of our games to life in the real world.
"Together we are building it with an eye for what guests will actually experience.
"I think Mario will feel like he finally came home".
