Newlywed wife dies weeks after ‘carbon monoxide leak’ kills husband on honeymoon in Mallorca
A NEWLYWED bride tragically died in a hospice two months after a suspected carbon monoxide leak killed her husband on their honeymoon.
Mary Somerville, 39, was discovered unconscious next to her husband Jaime Carsi, 40, in a villa in Majorca at the beginning of May.
It is understood a broken fridge in their holiday accommodation had caused a gas leak.
The loved-up couple, from Edinburgh, had held a wedding ceremony with friends and family just 15 days before the tragedy.
While Jaime tragically died on the holiday island, Mary fought for her life before passing away at a hospice in Scotland earlier this month.
Iain Stewart, executive director of the Edinburgh Interfaith Association, paid tribute to the much-loved teacher.
In a statement, he said: “I will remember Mary for her warm and infectious personality and smile that would light up any room.
“Please join me in sending prayers to Mary’s family and loved ones.
“At this time as people of faith we are comforted by the belief that Mary will once again be united with her beloved Jaime.”
The pair had jetted abroad to spend holiday time at the rural property in Cala Mesquida in the north-east of the island.
