Special Forces airman busted for taking drugs in crackdown on his elite flight unit
A SPECIAL Forces airman has been busted for taking drugs in a crackdown on his elite flight unit.
He was caught when compulsory testing teams swooped on the Special Forces Flight, 7 Squadron RAF, three times in just three weeks.
Under the air force’s zero tolerance policy to drugs, he is likely to be kicked out, sources say.
The elite crews fly SAS and SBS missions in modified Chinooks.
They are picked from the cream of the RAF and kept on constant stand-by to swoop into hostile territory undetected or under fire.
But top brass feared a cocaine culture was spreading among squadron staff.

A source said: “It’s unheard of for one unit to get tested three times in three weeks.
“The chain of command must have had intel about a drug problem. It’s a real blow for such a prestigious squadron to have a drug user in their ranks.”
The Special Forces Flight has been tested four times this year.
Its RAF Odiham base, home of the Chinook fleet, has been tested 15 times since January.
