Son, 39, charged with murder of mum Lynette Nash, 64, who died after suffering ‘serious injuries’ at seaside town home

Police charge with the murder of a woman in Portishead

A MAN has been charged with the murder of his mum after she was found at home fighting for her life and later died.

Emergency services scrambled to a seaside property and arrived to find Lynette Nash, 64, seriously injured.

Despite medics' best efforts, Lynette was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops have now charged her son, Gavin Nash, 39, with murder.

Avon and Somerset Police said formal identification had not yet taken place, but is due to take place later this week.

The horror unfolded on Tansy Lane, Portishead - with police arriving at the home at noon on June 27.

Nash, who has been remanded in police custody, is due to appear before magistrates at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on June 30.

Detective Inspector Neil Meade, the senior investigating officer, said: “This is a substantial step in what has been a very fast-paced, intensive investigation.

“Lynette’s family have been informed and they continue to be offered support by our specialist family liaison officers.

"Our thoughts continue to be with the family as they come to terms with what has happened.

“We would like to thank the local community again for their patience and understanding while we carried out our investigation.”

Avon and Somerset Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior police contact.
