My dog is lucky to be alive after falling off a 150ft cliff – don’t make the same stupid mistake I did
A DOG is lucky to be alive after falling off a 150ft cliff on to the beach below — and suffering no major injuries.
Owner Sandra Costin had been walking Button off-lead when the pup plunged over the edge of the rockface.
Coastguards were called out, spotted the dog and abseiled down to the sands below to grab her.
Button was placed in a rescue bag and winched to the top of the cliff close to Thornwick Bay Holiday Park in Bridlington, East Yorks.
Chuffed Sandra, a former NHS nurse, said: “She’s shocked and dazed and now resting at home.
“I was very stupid walking her without the lead on but she loves to run around.

“I’ll never forgive myself for putting her and those brave men at risk.”
A Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team spokesperson said: “The coastguard team arrived on scene and deployed spotters to get visual on the dog.
“Once located it was decided that a technical cliff rescue setup would be the best method of extracting the dog from the beach.
”Two technicians descended the 45m cliff and were met by a very friendly dog.

“The dog was placed in an animal rescue bag and taken back up the cliff into the care of its owners and to the vets.
“This is an important reminder that when walking dogs on cliff top paths ensure they are kept on a lead."
