Her lawyer said she intended to deny the new charge, as well as the involuntary manslaughter of Halyna Hutchins.

Halyna, 42, died on a film set in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October 2021.

Gutierrez-Reed, 25, said she mistakenly loaded a live round into a revolver actor Alec Baldwin, 65, was rehearsing with.

The new charge comes as Robert Shilling, the outgoing lead investigator for the Santa Fe district attorney’s office, criticised the local sheriff’s investigation into the shooting.

Gutierrez-Reed is the only person still facing charges for Hutchins' death.

A manslaughter charge Alec Baldwin was facing for the 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has been dropped.

The actor was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter over the incident while filming Rust in New Mexico.

Baldwin had denied pulling the trigger to cause the gun to fire.
