A TEENAGE boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a horse-loving pensioner was bludgeoned to death at the stables where he worked.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested by cops on Saturday and pulled into custody to be quizzed by detectives over the OAP’s death.

The 70-year-old victim was found on Tuesday in a pool of blood inside his mobile home, located on site near the stables at Capstone Stud Farm in Gillingham, Kent.

The pensioner is thought to have worked at the stables helping look after the horses for nearly a decade.

The teenage suspect is from the seaside town of Sheerness, Kent, nearly a 40-minute drive away from the crime scene.

A horse owner who rents a stable at the farm andwished to remain anonymous said: “We weren’t allowed to go on site on Tuesday because the police prevented us from going on.”

A post-mortem examination failed to establish a cause of death but police confirmed he had suffered head injuries.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Detectives investigating the death of a 70 year-old man in Gillingham have arrested a man.

“Kent Police was called to an address in Capstone Road at 11.08am on Tuesday.

“Officers attended along with ambulance staff, who confirmed that the man had died. It was apparent he had suffered head injuries.

“This morning detectives arrested a 17 year-old man from Sheerness on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.”

A statement issued by Trevor's grieving family said: "Trevor was quite a character, who enjoyed the outdoor life. He was always willing to help out friends and neighbours. He will be missed by many."
