Donald Trump slapped down by UK army bigwig after claiming he would ‘bomb the s***’ out of ISIS
Major General Rupert Jones slammed the President Elect challenging the Republican to 'go and ask a Daesh commander if he is being hit hard enough'
BRITAIN’S top commander in the mission against Islamic State slapped down Donald Trump after he whinged the terror state was not getting bombed enough.
Major General Rupert Jones, deputy commander of the US-led coalition taking on Isis, said: “Go and ask a Daesh commander if he is being hit hard enough.”
He spoke out from a new training facility in Iraq where 250 troops are helping to train Iraqi forces to defeat the hated terror group.
During the election campaign President elect Trump – who takes office in the New Year – said he knew better than battle-hardened Generals.
Adding that he would, “bomb the shit out of them.”
He said: “I know more ISIS than the generals do, believe me.

“I would bomb the s**t out of them. I would just bomb those suckers. And, that’s right, I’d blow up the pipes. I’d blow up the refineries. I’d blow up every single inch. There would be nothing left.
“And you know what? You’ll get Exxon to come in there, and in two months — have you ever seen these guys how good they are, the great oil companies? They’ll rebuild that sucker brand new. It’ll be beautiful.
And I’d ring it, and I’d take the oil.”
So far the coalition has conducted 17,000 strikes on Isis – including over 1,000 by RAF Tornado and Typhoon war bombers and deadly Reaper drones.
Maj Gen Jones said the strikes were, “as well targeted as any strikes in history.”
But the top officer insisted Trump’s presidency was unlikely to change the direction of the war effort.
He said: “The mood is very genuinely they are working to the current plan.
“Administrations change, but the US system is very resilient.
“The new administration will come in and do an assessment, are they expecting a huge change in direction? No.
“National interests are enduring, no matter what Governments come and go.
Adding: “I am not going to comment on some of the Trump campaign narrative what I would say to you is we are hitting Daesh very, very hard.”
So far Isis have lost about 56 per cent of territory in Iraq and 27 per cent in Syria.
He said success was down to the air campaign targeting key leaders and the skill of Iraqi forces who have now got their “confidence back.”
