Woman dies after going swimming with friends in River Avon near Evesham
A WOMAN has died after going missing while swimming with friends in the River Avon during the ongoing warm spell.
Her body was recovered from the water near Evesham, Worcestershire, at around 7.30pm last night.
The woman, who was in her 70s, was believed to have been enjoying a paddle with pals when they lost sight of her.
Temperatures in the area peaked at 26C shortly before she was found, according to the Met Office.
A desperate search was carried out, including with a police helicopter, before her body was discovered.
Cops confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances.

Superintendent Sue Thomas, of West Mercia Police said: "This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends.
" Extensive searches were carried out in the water and the surrounding area after she was reported missing and we understand that the amount of emergency response may have caused some alarm in the area but we can confirm that the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious."
It comes as the warm weather rolls on, with highs of 24C predicted today, making the UK hotter than Bilbao, .
Meanwhile, water is being rationed in some areas amid low rainfall, with homeowners told only to use it for "essential" purposes.
