Brits have been hit with more storm warnings before glorious 27C sunshine this weekend.
Woburn in Bedfordshire was hit by 26.4mm of rainfall in just one hour yesterday afternoon as Britain was washed out following days of mercury sizzling temperatures.
And flooding at the bottom of the M1 was so severe it turned one bridge into a "water feature", drenching the vehicles travelling under it.
The Met Office issued several weather warnings including "danger to life" amber alerts on Monday, with yellow thunderstorm warnings now rolled out in Scotland and Northern Ireland today.
They cover western Scotland from Glasgow up to the Highlands and western areas of Northern Ireland.
The warnings - in place from midday to 9pm today - warn residents that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly.
Despite storm clouds gathering in these areas, Tuesday will be mainly dry and warm for the rest of the UK with long spells of sunshine.
But there will be patchy cloud and some showers in the north-west as well as in southern England, with the risk of thunder.
Tuesday will see highs of 27C in Cardiff, 27C in Edinburgh, 25C in Norwich, 24C in Plymouth, and 22C in Newcastle.
Through this evening and overnight, most showers will clear and it will be a largely dry night with clear spells for most.
But more low-hanging cloud is expected to linger along the northern and south-western coasts.
Wednesday will see similar highs as Tuesday for much of the country but it will be less humid and dryer.
Thursday will see yet more baking temperatures with highs of 25C in Manchester as the rain stays clear through to Friday.
There will be highs of 25C on Friday but rain will push in from the west, drenching northern Wales and reaching Lands End in Cornwall.
Saturday will then see temperatures soar to an expected 27C as another baking weekend awaits for Brits.
The scorching weather has prompted vets to warn pet owners of the dangers of high temperatures and how to care for your pooches and cats in hot spells.
