What does Betsy DeVos stand for?

A self-dubbed national leader, Betsy said she fought to boldly reform “America’s broken education system by giving parents more options for their children’s education.”

She advocates for school choice, and backs charter schools.

The 59-year-old believes in using school vouchers to allow students to attend private schools with public funding.

This has been described as "a government-run monopoly" by Trump himself.

Traditional vouchers are basically state-funded scholarships that pay for students to go to private school instead of public school.

But in order to accept voucher recipients, private schools must meet minimum standards established by legislatures.

These rules set standards for student eligibility that typically target subgroups of students, including low-income students, students at critically low-performing schools, disabled pupils or students in foster care or military families.
