He can be seen trying to walk away as another student continues to shove and punch him at Semmes Middle School, in Alabama, USA.

Drew's mum Kimberly told that the bullying had been going on for a month and she has taken him out of school until the situation is resolved.

The thugs can be heard encouraging other pupils to hit Drew as he tries to run away down the hallway.

He tries to get into a classroom to tell a teacher but the door is locked leaving him backed into a corner as the yobs continue to hit him.

And the emotional mum told that she downloaded the footage from YouTube when her son revealed it had been uploaded to the video sharing platform.

She said: "He's the one who found and told me about and I downloaded it because it was on YouTube.

“I was scared it would be deleted so I downloaded for evidence."

Drew's brother Corbin, who shared the footage online, posted: "My brother is being bullied.

"These kids have no idea who they are messing with and what he has been through already in his life. I can't even believe this is happening and there will be repercussions. This is not over, I'm sorry Drew, we love you."

In a later update, he revealed: "My mum talked to the school. Please everyone learn from this, if you see someone getting bullied then step in and help put a stop to it by whatever means necessary.

"It may take some courage, maybe even selflessness, but it's infinitely more effective rather than remaining only a bystander. It only takes one person, be that person and make a difference.

"Drew hasn't gone to school for a week. This is about getting people to stand up against bullying nationwide so kids like Drew never again get bullied at schools like this."

Mobile County School Superintendent Martha Peek said more than one student had been suspended and it was "more severe than just an in-school suspension", according to FOX10 News.

In a statement on Saturday, the school's governing board said: "Mobile county public schools officials are aware that a video is circulating Facebook showing bullying at Semmes Middle School.

"Disciplinary actions were taken when the incident took place. Matters like this are very serious and unacceptable in our schools. We urged everyone to report bullying and threats of bullying."

The video has gathered hundreds of comments online, including pictures of an alleged bully and his parents.

LaTonya Stone posted: "And that's the reason kids show up to school with a gun. This is utterly disgusting."

Sammy Jo said: "How can kids be so cruel when the poor kid didn't even provoke them. I'd be ashamed if my son ever became a bully."

And Sheila Riddle messaged: "Where the heck are the adults through this? Walking down hallways and not one adult hears the screaming? All those who were on film and did nothing should be held accountable."
