SOFT cops let eco-zealots bring central London traffic to a standstill during the Bank Holiday peak shopping time.

Police imposed section 12 notices to Just Stop Oil who were slowly marching in Regent Street on one of the most prime days for retail businesses.

Protesters from the group, an offshoot of Extinction Rebellion, have blocked roads and bridges in the capital in order to highlight their demand that the government stops new oil and gas projects.

A Sun poll has shown 44 per cent of the public feel police are too lenient with eco yobs.

Just Stop Oil protestors were pictured blocking an ambulance in Oxford Street last month.

Earlier this weekend Just Stop Oil demonstrators stormed the pitch at Twickenham while Saracens and Sale were playing the Premiership Rugby final.

They struck at the Chelsea Flower show last week as demonstrators covered flowers in orange powder.

They were in turn, drenched in water by a woman with a hose pipe.

Last week a motorist told how he was dragged away by police after losing his patience with protestors.
